Along the edge of Orlando’s suburban sprawl lies the Real Florida — subtropical wetlands and floodplain marshes that serve as havens for wildlife. The Saint John’s River watershed supports more bird species than any other habitat in central Florida’s interior, with over 200 species recorded throughout the year.
On the water, the scenery changes constantly. Herons, egrets, bald eagles, anhingas, swallowtail kites, snail kites, limpkins, roseate spoonbills, ducks, and warblers are all regularly spotted along this route. Binoculars are highly recommended for a closer look at birds perched along the marshy banks and soaring overhead.
The tour departs and returns from the boat ramp at Mullet Lake Park in Geneva, Florida. Kayaks and all safety equipment are provided, making this experience accessible to paddlers of all skill levels. Two time slots are available daily — 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
