Gatun Lake Kayaking Tour

Begin your morning as your bilingual guide meets you at your hotel lobby and drives you to Gamboa, where your kayaking experience launches. From the Gamboa public ramp or resort, you’ll enter the vast and historic Gatun Lake—once the largest artificial lake in the world and a vital component of the Panama Canal.

Paddle at a relaxed pace through canal tributaries where the rainforest meets the water. Hear exotic bird calls echo through the jungle canopy and keep an eye out for caimans gliding silently through the reeds. The calm waters of Gatun Lake make it ideal for beginner and experienced kayakers alike.

Your guide will take you along hidden inlets and forested edges of the lake, offering insight into the local flora and fauna, and possibly joined by a Native Indigenous guide from the region. Wildlife sightings might include turtles, monkeys, sloths, and an incredible range of birdlife.

After approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes of kayaking, take a brief hike to the port used by the Embera indigenous community. You’ll then paddle back to the ramp where your transport will be waiting to return you to your hotel.
