We meet on the beach in front of the boats at 7:00 am so that we can depart from the mooring at 7:15 am.
Full days are 9 hours and can be fished inshore and/or offshore. A must in order to go after the marlin and sailfish. We run anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, then we start trolling. If catching dinner is important, there is plenty of time for that. We return at 4:30 pm.
On the 5 hour half day trip we stay inshore and look for any kind of action. We fish submerged rock formations for grouper, snapper, amberjack. There is also lots of surface action with jacks, mackerels, dorado, maybe wahoo and tuna: keeping everyone busy and catching fish for dinner.
For those who prefer to go offshore, but don’t want to be on the water for 9 hours, a 7 hour 3/4 day trip is a great option. There is opportunity to combine a quick pass offshore with time to catch your dinner.

Costa Rica requires all anglers to have a fishing license. Please purchase your license on line before traveling.

The cost is $17 per person for an 8 day license. Detailed instructions on how to navigate the Incopesca website will be sent to you when reserving.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • About the boat
OutCast is our 27′ Dusky, powered by twin 250 hp Cummins diesels, overhauled in November 2023. The boat has a tower, fighting chair and outriggers and a spacious cockpit. Lots of seating in the shade and the 11’+ beam make for a stable and comfortable ride. The cabin has a head. The boat is equipped with all electronics and communication gear. Tackle is Penn International and Shimano. Bring your music and we’ll hook it up to our speakers.
  • When is the best time to come fishing?
The fishing is not all that seasonal here and every year is different. It has more to do with water temperature and water color, the availability of bait and the speed and direction of the current than the time of year. Every month sees great fishing and slower fishing. So we say, come when you can and we will work hard to catch you fish and show you a great time!
  • What to Bring?
We are in the tropics and the sun is fierce! Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen are indispensable. Lightweight long sleeve shirts and pants will also shield you from the sun’s rays. All the boats have shade, but the sun’s reflection off the water can cause sunburn too. A light rain jacket or poncho may come in handy in the rainy season. Don’t forget your camera!
  • Can we keep our dinner?
Yes! The crews will be happy to fillet your fish and keep it on ice for the day. Tamarindo has many restaurants that will prepare your catch for dinner, please ask us for suggestions. It is customary to share some of the catch with the crew. We have a strict catch and release policy on all billfish.
  • Where can I park?
Parking is available in the area next to Chiringuito Restaurant and on the circle at the end of the road by Nogui’s Restaurant.
